Practical strategies for using and developing questioning skills that bring student thinking to higher levels
MAX the TAKS: Science Assessment Tools for Teachers (12 hours for grades 3-5)
Incorporates MAX the TAKS information along with formative assessment options, performance tasks, use of rubrics, and multiple choice items using TEKS-based lessons developed by Region 4 ESC
This training is most effective when resources ( Rising to the Challenge by Dr. Karen Ostlund, Understanding Elementary Science Assessment by the Dana Center, and TAKS Science Preparation Elementary by Region 4) can be purchased for teachers to use during and after the training (cost of books is $90 per participant)
Science Notebooking/Journaling is included in this training
When the two training days are scheduled a few weeks apart, follow up can be part of the 2nd training day
Training using TAKS Science Preparation Elementary( Region 4 ESC), Picture Perfect Science Lessons or Caldecott Connections to Science (hours and grades TBD)
These books of outstanding lessons use the 5-E lesson model to address many national standards and TEKS in grades K-6
The training is most effective when books ($30-$50 each) can be purchased for each teacher
